The Climate Change Movement (or whatever it is called these days) to save the planet from man and to, of course, “remake world economies,” is dying. Another loss for Marxism.

Martin O’Malley: Man of the Moment
Martin O’Malley, Democrat candidate extraordinaire for POTUS, apparently did not get the memo. In a Bloomberg interview on Monday, O’Malley floated this:
“One of the things that preceded the failure of the nation state of Syria, the rise of ISIS, was the effect of climate change and the mega drought the affected that region, wiped out farmers, drove people to cities, created a humanitarian crisis,” he said. “It created the symptoms – or rather the conditions – of extreme poverty that lead now to the rise of ISIL and this extreme violence.”
This nonsense is so far out and uninformed as to not warrant further comment.

The Movement Has Been a Fraud All Along
In a previous post of February 18, 2009, “Environmental Apocalypse Now?” I reproduced an article by George Will, discrediting the climate change movement.

Highlights (paraphrased and text added):
- Global cooling and a 10,000-year ice age was predicted – in 1971.
- Retreating arctic ice in 2008 was considered evidence of global warming, [apocalyptic rising waters were coming, and it is the fault of man = we need a new world order, and Obama will part the seas and lead us to the promised land].
- Right after that arctic ice increased more dramatically than it ever has, either up or down.
I will add that there was rampant data manipulation in support of this movement, and no mention by any of its advocates and “scientists” of the inconvenient but known meta weather affects of sun spots and ocean currents.
Every silencing tactic in the left’s quiver was deployed, along with academic career threats, you name it. And Al Gore got rich.
It’s Over Martha
“According to a piece in this weekend’s MIT Technology Review, as the international climate talks in Paris approach this fall, many eco-activists are apparently too depressed about their real-world political ineffectiveness to get out of bed and join other revolutionaries on their parapets along the Seine.
“They “have started to throw up their hands, retreating from a struggle they no longer believe they can win,” Technology Review opines.
“…the despair appears to be so great in progressive precincts this summer that the Left is now labeling itself as “climate defeatists.” Self-loathing is in, climate activism is on the way out.”
